Welcome!

The Grand Canyon Celtic Arts Academy¬† is looking forward to another successful year with our three instructors: Cassie & Maggie MacDonald and Gordon Gower in our beautiful, air-conditioned campus at Flagstaff Arts and Leadership Academy. We’ll be offering 16 classes (6 adults, 3 evening workshops, and 7 children’s classes) and one concert this year!¬† July 14-16 will have classes from 9:00-5:00. Monday evening will feature 2 hour workshops from 7-9pm. Back by Popular Demand: Children’s classes will be held July 13-17 from 9:00am-5:00pm. Each child will take 7 classes. See the schedule for more details!

Wednesday evening will be the annual concert in Bushmaster Park (new location) and session at Charly’s (TBC) afterward! We’ll finish up the week with concerts with Gordon Gower, and Cassie & Maggie MacDonald on July 17 at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church.

Of course, it’s not really over, then there is the Arizona Celtic Highland Festival! Check out www.nachs.info for information on the festival and be sure to check out Cassie & Maggie MacDonald while you’re there! Ron & Kari Barton will perform with Gordon Gower at the Saturday night ceili at Charly’s.

Here are some photos of our past and present instructors, Flagstaff, and pictures from previous years, including a trip to the Grand Canyon in our first year!

The Academy provides an excellent opportunity to expand your repertoire, learn new tunes, be exposed to new playing styles, and make great connections with other members of the musical community. Irish music and tradition comes to life during these workshops, and ever year that I have attended the camp, it has been a beautiful and memorable experience. I look forward to fiddle/dance/ language/whistle workshops through the GCCAA all year long. Attend, and you will too!

Is anyone from the Academy available to provide classes on Celtic Heritage for special events? I am planning the Clan Donald Annual General Meeting 2014 in October in Flagstaff and would like to speak to someone about presentations that might be available from the Academy. Could someone contact me regarding this matter? Thank You!

    Jenny,
I would be happy to do a presentation at your clan meeting as long as the schedule permits. I apologize for not getting back to you quicker! I was unable to get into my website for a bit! Please let me know the date and what sort of presentation you may be looking for. You can email me at Kari@GrandCanyonCelticArts.org. Thanks very much for thinking of us. We’ll also be having our 7th annual Academy this summer if you know anyone interested in attending. Ages 7-Adult, beginners to advanced players.
    Kari
